Setting up Your Fund Raising Web Page

Head over to www.onesmile.org and create your fundraising account.  Its easy, just follow the step-by-step guide.  Press the 'Get Started' link on the main page and you’re off and running!

Decide on your ‘Username’

Your Username is used later on as your part of your personal web page link, that is designed to be emailed to friends, work mates, and family so they can donate directly to the charity.  This convenient feature will instantly help you on your mission to raise funds for Tour de Asia Charity Rides.

Think about using something that people will relate to you, so it is easy for them to make a connection. Your name would be the simplest, but maybe you've got a better idea.  The rest of this page is pretty standard, email and password.

You can select to receive email from Operation Smile if you like, just check the boxes and you’ll receive occasional information from them.  Once your happy with everything just click ‘Continue’.

Once you’ve click ‘Continue’ you’ve created the account!

Now you just have to put some personalized information in, so your friends, family and work mates know why your raising funds and that’s it you who is contacting them.

Complete the details so One Smile who’s who giving them the money and helping them out. It’s just the standard stuff, not hard at all. Once you’ve ‘Saved’ this, your set up is completed. Your final page will be to add your target amount you need to raise and you will be given your own One Smile.com web page link that you can simply Copy and Paste to an email to send to all your potential donors.  Please consider setting your goal above what is actually required for the ride so that you can raise even more for Operation Smile.

Make sure you give it a good and helpful ‘Title’, you can help Tour de Thailand or Tour de Isan by putting it in there. It will let the charity know we’re working hard to help them and also give us some more exposure, so others can join us on our great events.

Make sure you put some motivational stuff in your ‘Personal Message’ box, it is displayed at the top of your personal web page and should inspire others to donate and help you to your target.

Operation Smile is an American Charitable Organization and therefore some are entitled to a tax deduction.  So maybe that will be an incentive, if so, put it in.

Otherwise, you need to get them motivated and tell them why you want to ride and how much you think helping children is worth their big bucks!  You can also mention how much you are sacrificing to do this event (registration fee, airfare, time off from work, training, time spent fundraising, and much more).  You are not asking for a free ride, just a little support for a good cause.
